Social Distortion Biography
Social Distortion is a Southern California punk rock band formed in 1978. Led by singer and guitarist Mike Ness, the group became known for combining punk's direct energy with influences from rockabilly, country, and classic American rock. Its best-known songs include “Story of My Life,” “Ball and Chain,” and “I Was Wrong,” while the album Social Distortion, often called the self-titled album, helped introduce the band to a wider audience.
The band's long career has made it a lasting name in alternative music, with lyrics often exploring personal struggle, resilience, and life on the margins. Social Distortion's Reno performance at Grand Sierra Theatre was listed for May 26, 2024. This event places the band's punk and roots-rock sound in a city with a strong live-entertainment scene, offering local fans a chance to see the group in a theatre setting.

Venue and Seating Information
Grand Sierra Theatre is an indoor venue within the Grand Sierra Resort in Reno. Its theatre format gives concertgoers a seated setting, with the view and sense of proximity to the stage varying by section. For Social Distortion, the room offers an alternative to a standing-room club show while keeping the performance focused on the stage.
When choosing seats, consider the balance between closeness and a broader view of the stage. Seating layouts can vary by event, so check the current chart and ticket details before purchase rather than assuming a section has the same arrangement for every show.
Parking Information
The theatre is part of Grand Sierra Resort, where visitors can use the property's parking facilities. Allow extra time to park and walk to the venue, especially when arriving close to showtime or during other busy resort events.
- Review the resort's current parking instructions and any event-day notices before travelling.
- Consider rideshare or drop-off arrangements if you prefer not to search for a space at peak arrival time.
Social Distortion Reno reviews
1st Van Morrison Concert
Upfront disclaimer - I accompanied my husband, a HUGE Social Distortion fan. Not so much me.
The music was beautiful - the pianist, the violin player, and the guy playing the horns were awesome. I could hardly understand a word Mr. Social Distortion said in any of the songs, which is my usual complaint to my husband anyway. So, clear vocals weren't expected.
But what really struck me was ----HE NEVER ADDRESSED THE AUDIENCE!!! We all paid between $95 & $350 to see the man, and the venue was packed --- yet not even a single word to the audience. Would a simple thanks for coming be too much to ask? Admittedly, he did perform for nearly 2 hours straight, so I suppose we got our money's worth. There was no encore, either......but again, the nearly 2 hours straight, so I won't complain too much.
My husband was ecstatic & enjoyed every moment. I care enough about him to say, okay, I'm happy I attended, but I'm unsure if I'd go again.
